As part of ongoing efforts to improve public services and infrastructure, the installation of solar-powered lighting units is continuing along the streets of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighbourhoods in Aleppo, as part of the final phase of a project implemented by the Stabilization Support Unit (SSU), with support from the Al-Rashad Programme, funded by the U.S. Department of State, and in coordination with Aleppo Governorate and the Aleppo Lighting Department.

The project involves the installation of 200 lighting units distributed across the main streets of both neighbourhoods, covering a total distance of approximately 5 kilometres. It aims to improve public street lighting, enhance road safety, and provide a safer environment for residents through the use of solar energy.

To ensure the project's sustainability and improve operational efficiency, high-specification lighting units have been imported. These units are designed to provide a long operational lifespan while reducing maintenance burdens and costs for the Lighting Directorate. In addition, the supplier has committed to providing a comprehensive three-year warranty covering malfunctions and manufacturing defects.
