Dialogue Workshop on the Electoral System and Constituency Division
Aleppo – The Syrian Community Observatory Network – Stabilization Support Unit organized a dialogue workshop in the city of Aleppo titled "The Electoral System and Constituency Division", as part of its efforts to promote public discussions on developing the political process in Syria.
The workshop was attended by a number of members of the People’s Assembly, along with representatives from political affairs, the subcommittee for elections, and the Fifth Bloc in Aleppo Governorate, in addition to a group of legal experts, human rights advocates, and civil society activists.
The workshop addressed two main themes: reviewing different electoral systems and their impact on political representation in Syria, as well as discussing the desired form of political representation that meets the aspirations of Syrians and reflects their diversity.
The session was moderated by Dr. Abdulhamid Al-Awak, and featured in-depth and interactive discussions focusing on the importance of designing a fair and transparent electoral system that enhances political participation and reinforces the principles of genuine representation.
