Azaz Hosts the Second Dialogue Session on Legislative Priorities from the Perspective of Civil Society

On Tuesday, Rased Syria, a program of the Stabilization Support Unit (S.S.U.), organized its second dialogue session in the city of Azaz following the commencement of duties by the newly elected members of the Syrian People's Assembly.

The session was attended by the Deputy Director of the Azaz District, alongside representatives of civil society organizations, legal experts, and activists. The discussion aimed to identify legislative priorities for the upcoming phase, contribute to the legislative reform process, and strengthen communication between the People's Assembly and society.

Participants discussed a number of key legislative priorities, including:

  • Enacting laws that support economic recovery, create a favorable legal environment for investment, stimulate economic growth, and facilitate reconstruction.

  • Adopting legislation that promotes workforce reintegration and strengthens social justice.

  • Addressing issues related to transitional justice and institutional reform, while introducing laws to support the families of martyrs, provide reparations, and establish political isolation measures.

  • Enacting legislation that guarantees the protection of freedom of opinion and expression.

  • Developing the legislative framework to better respond to community needs and the requirements of the current phase.

The session also featured an open discussion on the most urgent legislative measures that could pave the way for broader legal reforms, contributing to greater social stability and supporting Syria's transition toward a more effective and responsive legislative framework.
